These are pictures of what is left of the World Trade Center and surrounding area in the days that followed the September 11 attack. Subsequent investigation revealed a plethora of problems with the surrounding water infiltrating the ground and resulted in many months and years of work to stabilize the ground and remove the debris. On September 11, 2001, terrorists from al-Qaeda flew hijacked commercial airliners into Towers One and Two of the World Trade Center on New York’s Manhattan Island and the Pentagon in Virginia. Another plane was on its way to some important target when passengers, after learning of the previous disasters by cell phone while onboard, overpowered the hijackers but the plane crashed in Pennsylvania killing all on board.
This album contains family and selected photographs and videos from the Year 2001. Aside from some exciting family items, the most notable world event from this year was the infamous Terrorists Attacks of September 11th on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. This album contains several galleries regarding those events.
